These Greek chicken burgers are made with lean ground chicken, feta, spinach, and herbs for juicy, flavorful patties. Cook them in a skillet or on the grill and serve in pita bread with tzatziki and fresh vegetables for an easy Mediterranean dinner.

  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 4 burgers 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh spinach
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 pita breads or burger buns
  • Toppings: lettuce, tomato, red onion, tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, feta, spinach, red onion, garlic, fresh dill, fresh oregano, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty slightly wider than your pita or bun. Press a shallow indentation into the center of each patty.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken patties and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  4. Transfer the burgers to a plate and let them rest for a few minutes so the juices can redistribute.
  5. Warm the pita breads or burger buns. Place one burger in each and top with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and tzatziki sauce. Serve immediately.

Notes

Grilling: Cook the patties over medium heat for 6 to 7 minutes per side, oiling the grates well so they do not stick.

Meal prep: Cooked patties keep in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet over low heat.

Serving: Add a simple salad or roasted potatoes on the side to round out the meal.
